Job Description

Bass Connections is seeking an undergraduate Communications & Media undergraduate or graduate student to work with our team for 4-6 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Bass Connections is a university-wide academic program that brings together Duke faculty and students to explore real-world issues on interdisciplinary research teams.

Key tasks for this position include working with the Assistant Director of Communications for Interdisciplinary Programs on:

- Drafting and posting content for Bass Connections social media (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn)

- Drafting, editing, and publishing stories for the Bass Connections website (e.g., team profiles, student spotlights)

- Photographing and/or filming video of Bass Connections teams in action and editing media for publication

- Collaborating with the Bass Connections communications team on other communications projects, as needed

Job Requirements

Applicants should have:

- Strong writing and editing skills, including careful attention to detail

- Experience writing for a public audience

- Experience creating digital media such as photography, videography, graphic design (preferred)

- Interest in interdisciplinary research and experiential education

- Curiosity and a willingness to give and receive feedback with a growth mindset

- The ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate reliably with team members
