Job Description

Graduate students interested in climate change and/or Southeast Asia are invited to apply for a hybrid Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) and Teaching Assistant (TA) role. The individual will work closely with Dr. Jonathan Stromseth, Professor of the Practice at the Sanford School, on both course and project-work that is related to climate innovations in Southeast Asia. It is estimated the individual would spend 70% of their effort on research activities and 30% on teaching support.

Work will begin in September and continue through the remainder of the calendar year, including the summer. Extension into the spring 2027 is possible.

The project team anticipates much of the work will be conducted remotely. Weekly meetings with Dr. Stromseth and project staff will likely be conducted in person in Rubenstein Hall. We will pay the Sanford School rate ($17.25/hour). The time commitment is expected to be 10-15 hours per week.

Job Requirements

Specific activities could include:

* Interpreting data from tracker of climate change projects in Southeast Asia, including help the project team identify trends or innovations related to private financing mechanisms;

* Generating narrative associated with such analysis and trends, contributing to research report to be published during 2025-26 academic year;

* Providing TA support to Dr. Stromseth for the development of course materials for a class related to climate change in Asia that will be offered in the spring 2027 semester. TA support likely to include the identification of readings and other course materials. The expectation is that the GRA would attend the class and support lecture development but not hold office hours or grade.

* Other responsibilities are likely to emerge as the project matures.
