Job Description

Founded in 2015, Polis: Center for Politics was created to foster political engagement and research, prepare future political leaders, and advance democracy efforts, pluralism, and civic discourse. Our Distinguished Fellows program brings accomplished political practitioners, public servants, and organizers to campus to engage with our community. Polis is looking to hire a student assistant from the Polis Student Committee to help us for about 10 hours per week. Responsibilities include general administrative support, helping with events and activities, event promotion, social media posts, etc.

Job Requirements

Event Planning & Execution: Responsible for assisting Polis with major events and Polis Student Committee activities. This includes aiding event promotion: creating graphics; printing and hanging up flyers; posting on social media; and event execution: assisting with invitations, registration, and outreach; staffing events and activities; working the registration table; taking notes for recaps; general setup and takedown; greeting guest speakers, etc.
Administrative Tasks: Responsible for general upkeep of the Polis website and social media channels, assisting with the monthly newsletter, managing databases and listservs, tracking faculty research and media, student outreach and recruitment, and helping with other administrative needs that arise.
Important Skills: Attention to detail; communicate in a timely and professional manner, follow up as needed; time management and problem solving; ability to work as a team and independently; experience with WordPress, Canva, Qualtrics, and social media platforms preferred.
