Job Details

Candidates must:

• Be enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or professional student at Duke University throughout the term of employment and over 18 years of age at the start of employment 

• Possess a valid driver's license a clean driving record and at least two years of driving experience

• Complete Duke's Defensive Driving Course and Vehicle Safety Course (online). The Duke Campus Farm will sponsor the successful candidate to complete these training programs at the start of employment. 

• Be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

• Be reliably available during the following scheduled delivery days on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, shift time is flexible.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

• Previous engagement with Duke Campus Farm through Community Work Days, classes, volunteer events, seasonal programs, or other farm activities.

• Demonstrated awareness of inequalities influence food access — and a willingness to keep learning.

• An interest in sustainable agriculture, food systems, community food security, or related career paths.

• Experience working outdoors in agriculture, food systems, or other hands-on environments.

• A desire to build on-going partnerships 

• Curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to teamwork.

• Diverse life experiences and perspectives that will contribute to a strong and inclusive student team.

Schedule

• Work 4–6 hours per week beginning as early as August 24 and no later than September 7, continuing through the end of the spring semester.

• Commit to the position for both fall and spring semesters.

• Develop a weekly work schedule in coordination with the Field Education Manager.
