This Graduate School Intern role is housed within The Graduate School and works in close collaboration with Alumni Engagement and Development (AED) to expand Alumni and Student Connections’ (ASC) reach into graduate and professional student communities. This role is ideal for a first-year student in a multi-year graduate degree program who is building skills at the intersection of data, media, and peer engagement. You will serve as a bridge between ASC and key graduate departments, deepening alumni-student connections through Blue Devil Bridges, coordinating signature events, and acting as an administrative liaison to help departments facilitate meaningful interactions between their students and alumni. Graduate Outreach & Departmental Partnerships Blue Devil Bridges is a student-alumni mentoring program that connects Duke students with alumni. Karsh Conversations are intimate alumni-student dinners designed to foster meaningful professional and personal connections. • Promote and deepen Blue Devil Bridges engagement across key graduate departments to fellow graduate students, serving as the primary point of contact for departmental outreach • Act as a peer liaison between graduate departments and the ASC team to facilitate alumni-student interactions, including pulling relevant data and lists to support program needs • Assist departments in developing and strengthening their own alumni-student connection programming, drawing on ASC resources and tools • Plan and execute two large-scale Karsh Conversation alumni-student dinners per year, managing logistics, invitations, and follow-up in coordination with ASC staff • Promote other large-scale alumni engagement events to Graduate School students and assist with promotion of smaller events • Identify alumni to be featured in the Alumni Profiles Series and assist in finding students to write these interviews Data & Analytical Reporting • Pull and manage data and lists to support departmental alumni-student programming requests • Analyze participation data to identify trends, peak engagement times, and high-interest grad communities; share findings with the ASC team • Record alumni engagement in Graduate School professional development programming • Propose data-informed adjustments to outreach strategy based on what’s working across departments Team & Administrative • Provide feedback on the current ways in which we engage grad students • Brainstorm with the team on new ways to engage grad students; submit ideas in writing and pilot suggestions when they align with team priorities • Periodically review alumni profiles website content for needed updates |
