Job Title: Student (0699) Research Assistant – Emotional Geographies Research Project Title: Emotional Geographies: Food, Energy, Water & Health Supervisor: Anais Delilah Roque, Assist. Prof. Environmental Justice FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Level: 00 Job Family: JF 23 Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week Duration: Immediate start through end of August 2026 Start Date: Immediate Occupational Summary: The Research Assistant will support ongoing research focused on emotional geographies and qualitative textual analysis. The primary responsibilities will include conducting a targeted literature review, preparing annotated bibliographies and literature syntheses, and assisting with qualitative coding and analysis using MAXQDA. Graduate students or advanced undergraduate students with strong research and writing skills are preferred. Work Performed: 1. Literature Review and Research Synthesis (33%) - Compile and organize approximately 20–30 scholarly articles published within the past 10 years related to emotional geographies research.
- Conduct a focused review of selected literature and identify major themes, theoretical approaches, and methodological trends.
- Prepare annotated bibliography summarizing key arguments, methods, and findings.
- Develop a concise literature review synthesizing relevant scholarship for the project.
2. Qualitative Data Analysis (33%) - Assist in organizing and preparing textual data for analysis.
- Collaborate with the research team to develop and refine a qualitative coding framework/codebook.
- Code textual data using Key Words in Context via MAXQDA.
- Support thematic analysis and documentation of key analytic insights and emerging themes.
3. Research Support (33%) - Maintain organized research files, coded materials, and bibliographic databases.
- Participate in regular project meetings and provide progress updates.
