As part of the Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library, you’ll contribute to a growing Community Engagement Program that centers relationship-building, listening, and collaboration. Working with library staff and community partners, you’ll help shape programs and initiatives that make collections more accessible, relevant, and responsive to the communities they represent. What You'll Do: - Support the planning and coordination of community engagement programs, including events, site visits, and collaborative initiatives with campus and community partners. - Assist with organizing and facilitating community-facing activities such as campus visits, tours, instructional sessions, and co-sponsored events. - Help identify and address barriers to participation (e.g., transportation, accessibility, and logistics) to create more welcoming and inclusive experiences. - Attend selected public meetings, community conversations, or events related to cultural heritage and archives, and share key insights with program staff. - Contribute to internal reflection and knowledge-sharing through documentation, informal reports, or convenings. - Assist with outreach and coordination for community-based instruction and engagement efforts, including partnerships with new or underrepresented audiences. - Support exploratory and longer-term initiatives such as traveling programs, artist collaborations, archival activation projects, or conferences. - Maintain documentation of activities, partnerships, and program outcomes to support continuity and future planning. - Regularly work in the Rubenstein Reading Room on the circulation desk. - May work occasional evenings and weekends. - Routinely move library materials weighing up to 40 pounds. - Must be able to work in an environment in which exposure to materials containing dust and mold is possible. |
