Job Description |
The Women's Empowerment & Programming Graduate Assistant provides gender equity education and training to the Duke community while coordinating special projects under the guidance of Women’s Center staff. Key initiatives include supporting the development of the Reproductive Justice Conference, annual WomC Awards, and the Women’s Center’s podcast, FemmePod. These projects promote a campus that supports, celebrates, engages, and collaborates with women and femmes, student groups, and stakeholders to build a Duke culture that centers intersectionality and opportunities for all, regardless of gender. In this role, the Graduate Assistant collaborates closely with Women’s Center staff and interns to plan and execute signature events and to implement ongoing programming, including Wind Down Wednesdays and the Lunch & Learn series. - Assist the Assistant Director with the planning and implementation of Women’s Center programming related to the topics of feminism/womanism and intersectionality.
- Assist the Assistant Director with evaluating and assessing programmatic effectiveness through consistent quantitative data collection and evaluation.
- Assist the Assistant Director in managing, cataloging, and organizing WC resources and supplies, including the Women’s Center Lending Library.
- Work with the Leadership Intern to table and staff WC events, including evening and after-hours programming like Wind Down Wednesday.
- Assist interns and/or program coordinator with social media, Femilist, and FemmePod responsibilities.

Job Requirements |
- Thorough understanding of gender equity issues in a college community and the ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members to address them.
- Interest in gender equity issues and familiarity with education/service provision from a feminist, anti-oppressive framework.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate and build a sense of camaraderie among peers, both individually and in group settings.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while also working collaboratively with WC intern(s) and effectively on tasks assigned.
- Detail-oriented and possessing strong organizational, time management, project management, and development skills.
- Experience with social media, Canva, and graphic design/communication skills.
- Must be available to work on Wednesday afternoons 3 pm - 5 pm.
