Fall 2026 - Lecture: TuTh 8:30-9:45AM OR 1:25-2:40PM, Discussion: Fridays 8:30-9:45AM OR 1:25-2:40PM We are seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a Master’s-level course in Introduction to Statistics and Econometrics for Public Policy. This course serves professional students (e.g., MPP/MIDP cohorts) and emphasizes applied quantitative methods for policy analysis. Given the technical rigor of the course, the TA must demonstrate strong subject mastery, research experience, and the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to students with diverse quantitative backgrounds. Key Responsibilities • Class Participation o Attend all scheduled class sessions (twice per week) o Support in-class activities and respond to student questions • Discussion Sections o Lead weekly discussion sections (Fridays) o Reinforce lecture material and guide applied problem-solving o Provide structured explanations of key econometric and statistical concepts o Provide basic teaching of statistical package programming (R and Stata) • Student Support o Hold weekly one-on-one office hours o Provide individualized support on course material, assignments, and coding • Course Coordination & Materials o Collaborate with other TAs to develop and organize problem sets and answer keys o Ensure consistency and clarity of instructional materials across sections • Grading Responsibilities o Assist with grading exams and assessments o Provide constructive feedback to support student learning Time Commitment • Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with peak periods (e.g., exams, major assignments) requiring up to ~19 hours per week • Includes class attendance, discussion sections, office hours, grading, coordination, and preparation |
