Job Description

Fall 2026- Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:05AM-11:20AM OR 1:25PM-2:40PM

The Lead TA is a PhD student who works approximately 15 hours per week on the course. Their responsibilities are to:

• Assist with canvas

• attend Tuesday and Thursday class meetings, assist the instructor with classroom logistics, and (optionally) lead selected classes

• Grade individual and team quizzes, keep gradebook up to date

• manage the Memo submission and grading process: transfer memos to students after they draft them in class, help collect final drafts, check final drafts for plagiarism, distribute drafts to Writing Coaches, enter grades into the Canvas gradebook, and return graded memos to students

• assist in-person with administering the Final Exam (date/time not yet announced by Duke Registrar) , upload final exam grades once graded

Job Requirements

For this role, students must be highly organized, strong in Microsoft Excel, committed to helping our undergraduates succeed, and highly ethical. Strong content knowledge (i.e., knowledge of introductory microeconomics, cost-benefit analysis, and basic statistics) is also preferred.

Work-study eligible students highly encouraged. If you have previous experience as a teaching assistant for the Sanford School of Public Policy, you will be eligible to receive an increased pay rate of $21.00 per hour.
