Employer: Duke Global Health Innovation Center Title: ALIGN Consortium Research Intern Location: Durham/Remote Description: The Duke Global Health Innovation Center studies and supports the scaling and adaptation of innovations, and related policy reforms, to address critical health challenges worldwide. It helps integrate complementary efforts across the nonprofit Innovations in Healthcare, the Duke Global Health Institute, and the Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy, developing an academic home for faculty, staff, trainees, and students working on health innovation and policy issues globally. The ALIGN Consortium improves the critical decision-making systems that determine what health product innovations get introduced, when, how, and how effectively. The Consortium, comprised of the Duke Global Health Innovation Center (GHIC), the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), the Kenya Pediatric Research Consortium (KEPRECON), and ENDA Santé, supports national governments in the pathfinder counties of Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa to enhance innovation introduction through strengthening four key focus pillars: portfolio-based planning, data-driven decision making, whole-of-government coordination and capacity, and whole-of-market engagement (inclusive of national, regional, and global engagement). The goal is to create more effective, efficient health systems that deliver better health outcomes faster for those who need them most. As part of its efforts to improve decision-making on health product introduction, the ALIGN Consortium intends to learn from and build upon prominent examples of how other countries approach these decisions. Duke GHIC will lead this cross-country learning activity and is seeking a student Research Intern to contribute to this effort. The Research Intern will report to Beth Boyer (Policy Research Associate) and Heather Lanthorn (Assistant Director, Research and Programs).
