Job Description

The undergraduate student will be designing, constructing, and characterizing optical/electrical/mechanical components used in a quantum simulator setup. The quantum simulator is based on ultracold neutral atoms trapped in optical tweezers, which are precisely controlled by electromagnetic fields. The student will keep detailed notes in the group lab notebook and present results regularly in group meetings. The project provides an opportunity for a motivated undergraduate to be introduced to all facets of conducting laboratory research.

Job Requirements

· No prior laboratory experience required

Preferred: at least 10-12 credits of undergraduate coursework and complementary laboratory courses in Physics, Engineering, or Mathematics, completed at Duke or other universities

· Preferred: Basic experience with python programming
