Job Description |
The Graduate Coordinator for Inclusive Excellence will support the Nicholas School of the Environment (NSOE) in advancing its mission to create a more inclusive, equitable, and engaging academic environment. This position is ideal for a doctoral-level student who seeks to engage with issues of inclusive excellence, student engagement, and strategic programming in a professional setting. Hourly compensation plus tuition assistance. Must be enrolled in a doctoral program and be in good academic standing to be considered. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence, the Graduate Coordinator will play a key role in implementing three major initiatives: enhancing student engagement in OIE programs, improving event planning and budget processes, and designing intergroup dialogue training modules for incoming students.
Key Responsibilities1. Student Engagement & Outreach (35%)- Implement an outreach strategy to improve student attendance at OIE programs and events.
- Conduct student interest surveys and focus groups to identify event themes and scheduling preferences.
- Develop partnerships with faculty and program staff to embed diversity education promotion into coursework and advising (e.g., dialogic pedagogy).
- Establish and use attendance tracking systems and compile semesterly engagement reports.
2. OIE Event Planning and Fiscal Management (30%)- Maintain an annual OIE events calendar to ensure long-term planning and coordination.
- Submit all OIE event proposals and budget plans at least 45 days before event dates.
- Develop systems to monitor event planning milestones and fiscal reporting deadlines.
- Coordinate quarterly budget reviews with the Assistant Dean.
3. Curriculum Development: Intergroup Dialogue Training (20%)- Develop training content for three modules: Race & Ethnicity, Gender & Sexuality, and Social Class.
- Incorporate diverse teaching strategies (e.g., role-playing, videos, and case studies).
- Consult with NSOE partners, including faculty, staff, and student leaders, to validate the curriculum.
- Pilot training with second-year students and integrate feedback for final version.
4. Communications and Visibility (10%)- Assist in producing promotional materials, social media content, and OIE newsletters.
- Support website updates and OIE program visibility through internal and external platforms.
- Assist with community messaging and event documentation.
5. Evaluation and Strategic Reporting (5%)- Support data collection from events, trainings, and surveys.
- Analyze and visualize data to identify engagement trends and program effectiveness.
- Help compile summary reports aligned with OIE strategic goals.

Job Requirements |
- Demonstrated background and interest in peer education, fostering inclusive environments, or student engagement in higher education.
- Experience facilitating workshops, discussion groups, or student-centered events.
- Strong communication (i.e., public speaking and written communication), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management skills
- Savy relationship builder
- Familiarity with inclusive pedagogical frameworks or intergroup dialogue facilitation is a plus (not required).
