Job Description |
This GA will provide critical administrative, advisement, and programmatic support to the Reggie Howard Leadership Program, a leadership initiative open to all undergraduates focused on academic excellence, intellectual scholarship, and a commitment to making a positive impact in communities. Reporting to both the MLW Center and OUSF, the GA will help coordinate events, advise students, and manage digital platforms to ensure program success. |

Job Requirements |
Key Responsibilities 1. Administrative Coordination & Stakeholder Reporting - Schedule and organize weekly or monthly program meetings (e.g. faculty dinners, cohort check-ins-, community events).
- Prepare agendas, take meeting minutes, and distribute action items.
- Regularly report program updates, metrics, and assessment snapshots to OUSF and the Mary Lou Williams Center.
- Support MLW Center with additional programs and processes as needed.
2. Student Advising & Cohort Support - Serve as a first point of contact for Reggie participants on logistics, deadlines, cohort expectations, and enrichment funding proposal development.
- Review enrichment funding applications; correspond with students if edits are needed prior to approval.
- Attend RHLP student leadership meetings and keep minutes. Brief directors on meeting highlights if they are not present.

- Create faculty led small groups and coordinate their meetings throughout the yearTrack individual student engagement across the program’s pillars (civic/community, scholarly, professional/leadership, intellectual/history).
3. Program Planning & Implementation - Coordinate RHLP Day of Service and the cohort “common book” dissemination and discussion.
- Assist with logistics for lectures, panel events, community service opportunities, and alumni engagement.
- Help plan year-level program milestones, including rising expectations in later years.
- Support outreach and promotional materials for recruiting new scholars and building awareness.
4. Digital Platforms Maintenance - Monitor and update the program’s Canvas sites and Duke Groups , which includes developing the content, setting the deadlines, monitoring the discussion posts, and populating the resource folders.
- Ensure timely updates (e.g. event links, reading assignments, announcements) and student access management.
5. Assessment & Reporting - Help design and distribute surveys, focus groups, or other feedback mechanisms for program evaluation.
- Track enrichment funding expenditures.
- Monitor RHLP attendance. Follow up with scholars who fail to attend meetings. Inform directors of any repeated scholar absences.
- Prepare summary reports to inform program directors and supporting offices.
Qualifications - Enrolled in a Duke graduate program for the academic year (2026-2027).
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in student advising or event coordination preferred.
- Proficiency with Canvas, learning management systems, collaboration tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Logistics - Time commitment:?10?hours/week
- Supervisor: Program co-directors Mary Lou Williams Center and at OUSF
- Period: Academic year (with potential summer assignments, depending on event schedule)
