Position Overview: AIM (Admissions Inclusivity and Mentorship) Coaches are Duke undergraduate students selected to represent the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) in community engagement, specifically with local high schools. Coaches will serve as a individual mentor to Durham high school students (grade 10-12), answering questions about the college admissions process, providing iguidance on navigating high school, college and career. Coaches will highlight Duke's commitment to nclusion and liberal arts education while fostering positive relationships with prospective students. Responsibilities: - Outreach and Engagement: Serve as a point of contact for high school students, answering questions about the college admissions process, Duke University, and higher education in general.
- Mentorship: Provide personalized advice and support on building a strong college application based on each individual student's interests. A cirriculum will be provided to help facilitate discussion.
- Educational Support: Help students understand the resources available to first-generation and low-income students at Duke and in higher education.
- Goal Setting and Motivation: Help high school students set and achieve SMART goals for their academic and personal growth.
- Resource Referral: Identify situations where students need additional support and refer them to the appropriate resources.
- Promote the Initiative for Students from the Carolinas: Provide information about the Initiative for Students from the Carolinas and encourage eligible students to explore this opportunity.
- Documentation: Maintain records of interactions with high school students through a Qualtrics or other provided systems.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for community engagement and helping others navigate the college admissions process.
- Understanding of Duke’s values and mission regarding diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in outreach efforts.
