Job Details

Responsibilities 

• Maintain organization and overall cleanliness of rental equipment and all storage areas. 
• Monitor, respond to, and fulfill equipment reservation requests. 
• Repair damaged gear in line with guidelines set by the gear manufacturer. 
• Retire damaged or worn gear in line with guidelines set by the manufacturer. 
• Update equipment inventory and item status in equipment database. 
• Provide analysis and feedback for equipment check in/out procedures, reservation procedures, staff performance, and gear/supply needs
• Answer questions and educate renters on all Outdoor Adventures offerings
• Complete Incident Reports and submit maintenance reports as necessary 
• Supports and helps progress the university and department's commitment to anti-racism and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
• Adhere to all Recreation and Physical Education and Outdoor Adventure policies and procedures
• Promote the missions of Recreaiton and Physical Education and Outdoor Adventures
• If helping with other parts of Outdoor Adventures such as the climbing wall or trips, it is the expectation that equipment specialists spend 80% of their time on equipment related tasks. 
• Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess the desire to help others in an inclusive and open environment that encourages safety, education, service, and fun.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate clearly, and maintain a professional attitude.
• Ability to manage time and correspond with staff and patrons in a timely manner.
• Willingness to learn and develop practical and transferable leadership skills.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (required, and available upon hire). 
• Security Awareness Training (required, and available upon hire). 
• Enthusiasm about the outdoors! 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of and experience with outdoor recreation equipment such as tents, stoves, and paddling equipment.
• Previous experience in customer service. 
• Able to think independently, be creative, and work in a fast-paced environment.
