The Graduate Assistant works within the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) to assist in managing the DKU Visiting Students Program. Each Fall, a group of Master of Science in Global Health students from Duke Kunshan University (approx. 10-20 students) participate in an exchange, spending their semester at Duke University. The Graduate Assistant will assist the DGHI Education Team to prepare and lead community initiatives for these students. The Graduate Assistant works in a highly collaborative manner to represent student needs with program director(s) and peer mentors. General Responsibilities Peer Mentor Program (50%) - Hire, train, and supervise up to 5 peer mentors alongside the Student Services Coordinator (SSC) - Develop resources and provide support to peer mentors. Serve as the first point-of-contact for mentor concerns and policy clarification - Periodically check in with peer mentors about their work through individual meetings and written communication Administration and project management (40%) - Assist the SSC in designing, organizing and leading orientation for incoming students - Create online resources for visiting students and manage the Canvas LMS site, ensuring that programmatic information remains up to date - Oversee the planning and coordination of Farewell Reception - Meet biweekly with SSC to align on activity progress and coordinate program activities - Attend quarterly meetings with DKU educational partners Assessment (10%) - Lead assessment efforts for DKU program, including creating and distributing surveys, analyzing data, and preparing reports for the DGHI and DKU Education Teams Time commitment |
