The Resource Sharing (Interlibrary Loan) unit in Access and Delivery Services at Duke University Libraries (DUL) seeks detail-oriented and dependable student assistants to support the borrowing and lending of materials with partner institutions worldwide. Resource Sharing Student Assistants help process physical and digital requests, prepare materials for shipment, scan articles and chapters and contribute to the smooth flow of materials between Duke and other libraries. This behind-the-scenes role is ideal for those who enjoy, attention to detail, working independently and contributing to academic collaboration on a global scale. Responsibilities - Process incoming and outgoing ILL requests using library software systems (e.g., ILLiad, Alma and ReShare)
- Retrieve materials from library stacks for DUL users and lending to other institutions
- Scan articles and chapters for delivery to DUL users and borrowing libraries
- Prepare and package materials for shipping and check in items upon return
- Handle materials and user information carefully following copyright and confidentiality guidelines
