Job Description

The Office for the Vice Provost of the Arts (Duke Arts) is looking for up to four undergraduate or graduate students with a passion for the arts to join our marketing and communications team for the 2024-25 academic year. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes experience in arts administration while also collaborating with departments focused on student and community engagement, programming, and production.

Duke Arts Admin Interns are paid $17/hour and are expected to work an average of 6hours/week for the remainder of the 2024-25 academic year (late September through April). Members will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications. Participation in this internship may meet the internship requirements for the Museum Theory and Practice Concentration in AAHVS as well as Experiential Learning requirements in the I&E Certificate.

Job Requirements

Internship Responsibilities Include:

• Outreach: Identify and connect with affinity groups who could be interested in Duke Arts events or programs through email outreach and cold-calling.

• Photography/Videography: Capture and edit photos and videos for our news stories and social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

• Copywriting: Draft language for advertisements, social media, news stories, or event descriptions

• Event Support: Represent Duke Arts for various tabling events on and off campus

• Creative Marketing: Brainstorm and create inventive content for Duke Arts newsletters and social media channels

• General Support: Support other Duke Arts departments as needed.
