Job Description

In partnership with the North Carolina Community Schools Coalition (NCCSC) and the Netter Center for Community Engagement at the University of Pennsylvania, the Southeast Regional Coalition for University-Assisted Community Schools (SRCUACS) is funded by the US Department of Education to convene colleges and universities within the state of North Carolina and across the southeast region to enhance practice and advance policy change for the expansion and sustainability of community schools. SRCUACS is organized around six pillars: Coalition Building, Storytelling, Resource Connection, Pipeline Development, Policy Change, and Research.

This position provides a high-achieving graduate student with the opportunity to support the development of university-assisted community schools (UACS) across the state in service of public-school students and families. The graduate student will collaborate with the Principal Investigator to develop organizational systems for coalition-building and communications. The successful candidate will have a passion for promoting equity, access, and social justice in every aspect of the work.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Develop a communications plan that is aligned with the growing community schools and university-assisted community schools movement

· Organize monthly newsletters, quarterly regional network calls, regional gatherings, and annual symposiums

· Recruit, onboard, and support UACS advisory boards at participating campuses

· Support Central North Carolina community school practitioner pipeline initiatives in partnership with NCCSC practitioners

· Support alignment and dissemination of best practices with the UACS National Network

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be an active graduate student at Duke University with an interest in public-school advocacy, community health, community organizing, and social science research. Experience with project management, editorial skills, social media, and communication a plus.
