Student interns are reliable students passionate about promoting well-being, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and strong interpersonal skills. Interns are accountable and can work well independently and within team settings. Students must remain in good standing with Duke University to represent GVEO. Initial Mandatory Trainings: All peer educators must complete mandatory training that will occur in August and September before beginning to represent GVEO. Job Description Includes: 1. Commit up to 10 hours per week towards Peer Education. 2. Engage in designated outreach to faculty, departments, student groups and organizations. 3. Responsible for promoting events to drive student engagement. 4. Assist in developing and implementing educational and social programs geared toward education of wellness, gender-based violence prevention, and more. 5. Involvement in planning and setup/cleanup of events-all degrees of “prep work” (i.e. making posters, flyers, copies, distribution of flyers etc.) 6. Be well versed on topics related to gender-based violence. 7. Ability to work and communicate effectively and cooperatively with others. 8. Organizational skills to manage time and scheduling to attend all meetings and events. 9. Conduct other programming and outreach duties as assigned Requirements: · Must be a currently enrolled Duke undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing. · Must be a role model for responsible and healthy relationships and enthusiastic about educating peers on gender-based violence prevention. No current or future violations of campus policy are acceptable. · Must possess strong verbal skills and desire to present information to peers. · Must demonstrate the ability to work with individuals and groups in a leadership capacity. · Must be available for weekly staff meetings, daytime/weekend/some evening availability. |
