Duke Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards It is the?mission?of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards to partner with students, staff, faculty, and the greater city of Durham to promote citizenship, community, integrity, responsibility, and accountability.??This is done through proactive education and engagement, promotion of adaptive resolutions, and connection through community.??OSCCS envisions an office that continually grows and evolves with the campus community.??OSCCS values truth, transparency,?communication?and equity.?? PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF POSITION Case Resolution Management 40% (8 hours a week) Manage low to mid-level academic misconduct, non-academic misconduct, student group misconduct cases Review and assess incoming reports for any potential violations of the Duke Community Standard Conduct information gathering meetings and investigations into allegations of misconduct Facilitate educational conferences and disciplinary hearings to resolve misconduct matters Make determinations based on the preponderance of evidence standard Utilize OSCCS conduct case management system Maxient with Level 3 access to create cases, send case correspondence and enter adjudication decisions and outcomes Serve as Community Standard Advisor for students requesting assistance in Conduct processes
Administration 25% (5 hours a week) Provide administrative assistance to the Senior Program Coordinator in the management of the Office’s operations. Answer and respond to incoming calls and voicemails under the guidance of Senior Program Coordinator. Greet incoming visitors to the office and refer them to the appropriate resource, location or staff members Review and reply to incoming questions and requests to the offices email inbox Complete routine Conduct Checks on behalf of internal constituents Assist with the completion of Dean’s Certification Forms Participate in weekly staff meetings, trainings, professional development, and team building
Student Group Advising 25% (5 hours a week) Recruitment and selection of Conduct Interns and Honors Council officers Facilitate Conduct Intern and Honors Council’s meetings and discussions Provide guidance in the planning and execution of Honors Council’s Integrity Week Offer event and logistics support for Honors Council Duke Community Standard education and awareness initiatives and events.
Special Projects 10% (2 hours a week) Assist OSCCS Associate and Assistant Deans with ongoing projects such revision of policies in the Duke Community Standard, collection data and preparation of assessment reports, Duke Community Standard education and awareness campaigns, and presentations and trainings requests from members of the Duke Community
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Any other administrative duties as assigned. Access to Duke University Student Affairs Staff Resource Office’s Learning and Organizational development offerings Sponsorship to one local or regional Professional Development conference/meeting Monthly mentorship lunches with OSCCS Associate Deans and Assistant Deans
