The successful applicant will assist with lab sections of Physics 135CN The Science of Cooking Constellation course. Teaching Assistant ResponsibilitiesBefore Lab Review weekly lab materials and be prepared to explain objectives and procedures. Help with lab setup (equipment arrangement, ingredient distribution, safety checks).
During Lab Guide students through experiments without completing their work for them. Answer conceptual and procedural questions. Monitor safety and ensure proper use of tools. Troubleshoot equipment or experiment issues as they arise. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
After Lab Assist in cleanup and restoring equipment/ingredients to storage. Provide feedback to the instructor about lab flow, student difficulties, and potential improvements. Help with grading short lab assignments or reports, as needed.
Safety & Compliance Must complete and comply with any required laboratory safety training, including: Heat-source and burn safety Food-handling and hygiene guidelines Chemical and equipment hazard awareness (if applicable)
Ensure compliance with departmental and university safety policies.
Professional Expectations Show punctuality and preparedness for all assigned sessions. Communicate respectfully and professionally with students, staff and faculty. Maintain academic integrity and confidentiality with student work and grades. Seek guidance from the instructor when unsure about procedures or policies.
