Our lab studies how rapid environmental change influences the structure and dynamics of microbial food webs using a combination of mathematical models, computational tools and experimental approaches. We have a few projects that aim to understand how temperature affects rapid traits changes and rapid evolutionary processes though mediating species interactions and microbial community compositions. We are looking for 2 to 3 undergraduate students to 1) help process images of protists collected from our previous experiment; 2) set up experiments asking about microbial food web and its feedback with plants. The emphasis of this position will be on the mastery of protist identification, experimental design and manipulations, and data collection. This could potentially lead to a multi-semester project or undergraduate thesis. |
