Duke Men’s Rowing Paid Head Coaching Position (12-15 hours a week) The Duke Men’s Rowing team is seeking a new long-term head coach who lives in the Triangle Area. We are searching for a coach who: - Promotes a competitive yet unified team culture - values the life lessons learned from rowing - understands the academic-athletic balance inherent in Club rowing programs. As Head Coach you would be expected to: - Attend 3-5 practices a week: We have a water practice on Saturdays from 9 AM - 11:30 AM at Lake Michie in Bahama, NC. We then have at least 2 dry practices throughout the week on Duke Campus. The weekday schedule varies each semester depending on coach and rower commitments.Typical weekday practice times include: 6 AM - 8 AM at Lake Michie in Bahama, NC, 7-8:30 AM at Wilson Gym on Duke West Campus, and 5-6:30 PM at Wilson Gym on Duke West Campus. - Attend 2-3 regattas per semester. For all of our regattas, we leave Friday evening and return to Durham late Sunday night. While our travel schedule varies year-to-year, we attend: - the Head of the Schuyllkill, PA [Fall semester] - Head of the South, GA [Fall semester] - SIRAs Sprints, TN [Spring semester] - Teach Novice rowers to row (Novice typically do not have any prior rowing experience) - Communicate Effectively with the team Communication is vital to the smooth operation of our program.
