Duke Gardens welcomes over 600,000 visitors annually. Student ambassadors greet and assist visitors by answering questions, providing information and building visitor awareness of Duke Gardens. If you like interacting with the public and building your customer service skills, you will enjoy this position. We are seeking student ambassadors who are available up to 19.9 hours per week on weekends and weekdays, and are punctual, organized and enjoy engaging with people. Student Ambassadors work with Gardens staff and Volunteer Ambassadors at the information desk inside the Doris Duke Visitor Center, outdoors at the Gothic Gate kiosk, and on a roaming golf cart. Duties include: assisting visitors with wayfinding in the Gardens, directing them to Garden highlights in-person and via the phone, re-stocking maps and other materials, closing and securing the Visitor Center at the end of the day, and answering phones. Open over the summer to graduate and undergraduate students both without work study and with Federal or Duke work-study. Hours: up to 19.9 hours per week Schedule: Immediate start through August 2024, must have availability weekdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. with optional weekend hours available.
