Job Description

The Graduate Assistant for Community Engagement serves in an academic year appointment working approximately 10-12 hours per week and reports to the Director/Associate Director. The person in this position is responsible for reigniting interest in and re-establishing the CMA Student Alliance Organization. The current itern=atCMA Student Alliance is comprised of representatives from student organizations affiliated with the CMA and other identity centers on campus to build an inclusive culture, build bridges across organizations, and coalesce around important issues concerning identity and social justice. Additionally, this individual may assist in the design and implementation of peer education but initially focus on the tenets of leadership development, community organizing and coalition-building.

Job Requirements

Programming

• Assist with design and implementation of programming that supports community building, awareness and education

• Create an educational framework which educates student organizations re: community-building and coalition building.

• Related additional duties and responsibilities may be offered and or assigned throughout the term of the position.

Student Support and Advocacy

• Actively engage with students and assist with advocacy and support for all students who participate in the Alliance.

• Attend and facilitate the CMA Student Alliance meetings/functions, work student leaders to coordinate calendar/programming efforts.

• Assist with the development and implementation of social justice education and leadership opportunities for students.

This position also requires you to meet with and build community with the other GA's who are employed by CMA. Additionally, if possible, we would prefer a minimal 2 year commitment to the position.
