Job Description

Bluesmith is seeking a student 3D printer operator to work for the 2024 Summer, with potential to continue into the academic year.

The Bluesmith lab serves the specialized 3d printing needs of the Duke Community.

There are at least 7 unique machines that have their own 3d printing methods. This lab is located at the Innovation Co-Lab and works to provide 3d printed models and final prototyped parts to clients within the Duke community. 3d models from this lab are critical to research labs and clinical projects. Job Requirements

Process print requests from clients

Consult with clients to find the best material fit and print method for the design’s application

Troubleshoot file preparation and slicing

Equip machines with appropriate material

Ensure success of print

Work in a team during consultations and printing tasks

Safely handle chemicals in the form of printing resins and cleaning agents

Interest in understanding 3d printing mechanisms
Must be an Undergrad

Preferred:

Lab experience (Safe handling of chemicals)

Experience with CAD and 3d model software
